Treatment of Spasmodic Dysphonia
Spasmodic dysphonia can be devastating for anyone who used their voice professionally. Characterized by involuntary muscle spasms that cause the vocal chords to slam together or open unexpectedly, spasmodic dysphonia can cause symptoms as mild as breathiness of voice or as damaging as stuttering. Dr. Opperman and his staff at the Colorado Voice Clinic have worked extensively with patients suffering from spasmodic dysphonia and can put together a fast, effective plan to treat the disorder.
Great progress has been made recently in the treatment of spasmodic dysphonia including the use of Botox injections into the larynx muscles. Botox can greatly reduce the effect of spasmodic dysphonia in many cases. Call the Colorado Voice Clinic today if you have been diagnosed with spasmodic dysphonia or are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
"Breathy" vocals
Sudden loss of speech
Voice breaks
Strained or "strangled" voice
Remember, stress can greatly increase the symptoms and frequency of spasmodic dysphonia. Dr. Opperman can work with you to help manage this frustrating disorder before it threatens your career.
