Sam Smith To Undergo Vocal Surgery - "Dreading Next Month"

British vocalist and multiple Grammy-winner Sam Smith has been scheduled for surgery to repair a vocal hemorrhage. Smith's camp announced that he will undergo microlaryngoscopy surgery in eight weeks, which also meant cancelling a handful of performance dates in Japan, France, and the Philippines.
Smith took to his Instagram to address and reassure fans:
“I have my operation booked for next week, so getting really nervous,” he wrote. “But by doing this in 8 weeks time I’m gonna be able to sing like never before, so it’s worth it.”
Representative's from Smith's team reported that a specialist has recommended he undergo suspension microlaryngoscopy surgery to repair the vocal hemorrhage.
A full recovery is expected, however Smith has been advised to be on a three-week vocal rest following the surgery according to his team. This means that in addition to cancelling overseas tour dates, Smith will also miss two major appearances, including the Billboard Music Awards and televised Red Nose Day broadcast.
